Basic Musical Education

A one-year course in basic musical training is offered every year. Boys aged 7-9 have a unique opportunity to take this course together with a partner in a comparable voice-range. The role of a boy’s musical partner is usually assumed by the mother, but it is also possible for an elder sister to take this part. By means of our own specially-developed method, the boys become acquainted in an enjoyable way with measure, rhythm, musical notation and basic musical terms. Other points of attention include posture, breathing techniques and the general development of the voice. All these musical elements serve the purpose of singing and playing together, a process in which the cymbal plays an important role. The so-called “ cymbalines” receive separate education once a week, in a 40-minute class. This method allows the boys to take the courses independently.
